India Tests 1st 5G Call, 100% Made In India! End-To-End 5G Network Developed In India, By Indians
On 19 May, the Communications Minister, Ashwini Vaishnaw successfully tested India’s first 5G audio and video call at IIT Madras.

According to him, the entire network has been designed and developed in India.
Mr Vaishnaw posted, “Successfully tested 5G call at IIT Madras. Entire end to end network is designed and developed in India,” on Koo, an app built for Indians in order to be able to share their views.
Further, the Communications minister said,”This is the realization of the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision. His vision is to have our own 4G, 5G technology stack developed in India, made in India and made for the world. We have to win the world with this entire technology stack,”.
Launch By September-October
He said that India’s own 5G stack will be ready around September-October as he urged nations to look actively at these indigenous telecom stacks for cost and quality advantage.
Mr Vaishnaw said India’s indigenous telecom stacks mark “big fundamental technological advancements”, Speaking at an event organized by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI).
In the coming week, the Department of Telecommunications is likely to move the 5G spectrum auction proposal to the Union Cabinet for final approval.
Government’s Effort In Inclusive Growth
Besides this, he also noted that bridging the digital divide has become even more crucial in a world where technology is playing a key role in economic development.
He added that the Government is directing all its efforts to ensure inclusive growth.
5G Services Roll Out
Coming to the topic of the roll-out of 5G services, it is expected in the latter part of the year.
Basically, this move will enable a new realm in the quality of services as well as new types of services.
According to the TRAI Chairman, PD Vaghela, digital technology is changing service delivery in education, healthcare, agriculture, energy, and other sectors.
for framing policies and regulations, he called for an enabling, collaborative approach among various sectors.
Prior to this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had inaugurated the country’s first 5G testbed at IIT Madras at the start of this month.
It has enabled startups and industry players to test and validate their products locally and reduce dependence on foreign facilities.
