Whatsapp Will Have Advanced, Exciting Chat Filters Will Help To Locate Chats Easily: But For Only These Users

WhatsApp is testing a new chat filters feature which will be exclusive to business accounts and allow them to manage multiple chats more efficiently.

Contents

For Business Accounts Initially

It will let users segregate chats into multiple categories or windows to seamlessly read messages from multiple users.

The feature will come to Android, Desktop and iOS users and will bring convenience to those who currently use features like archive chats to de-clutter WhatsApp main chat.

The filters will include options like unread chats, contacts, non-contacts and groups.

Filters

There will be 4 filters available to users.

Unread: Users can filter out all unread chats that will show up after selecting this filter

Contacts: With this,  the user can see a list of all contacts saved in the contact list.

Non-contacts: All unsaved number chats will be filtered out, so the user will be able to generate a list of all their unknown chats.

Groups: WhatsApp will show a full list of all groups the user is a part of or has been in the past.

How It Appears

Selecting one of these will show only those chats on the screen, helping the user navigate faster.

A new report by WABetaInfo shows in a screenshot that the filter button is visible to business accounts when tapping the search bar on Desktop.

Regular users will also be able to use the feature in a future update but there will be a difference: the filter button will be always visible even when you are not searching for chats and messages.

It will be moved to the main screen without opening search results.

Availability

The chat filters feature is currently in beta and can only be used by WhatsApp Desktop beta v2.2216.40

It will come to stable versions of WhatsApp Business later, along with other features that the platform has been developing.

Some of those are quick replies and identification of ‘legal’ names of those who have enabled UPI payments in the app.

WhatsApp is also getting other long awaited features such as the ability to transfer files up to 2GB, emoji reactions, ability to add more people to WhatsApp groups and more.
