Honda Launches A New Compact SUV Honda ZR-V In China; Can It Beat Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos? India Launch?
Honda has launched its latest SUV, the ZRV for the Chinese market.
As a compact SUV it will compete with the Hyundai Creta which is sold in China as ix25.
The car meant for China is the same as the US-spec HRV, which was unveiled a few weeks back.

Outward Features
It gets the same large octagonal front grille, sleek LED headlamps with integrated L-shaped LED DRLs doubling up as indicators, C-shaped inserts at the lower bumper and some more.

It has a dual exhaust setup which sets it apart from the US-spec HRV.
Expected Interiors
Interiors have not been revealed yet, but can be assumed to be similar to the HRV.
It may include features like touchscreen, digital instrument cluster, wireless charging, steering mounted controls, ventilated seats, electric sunroof, leather seats, rear AC vents, etc.
Although official information regarding the engine isn’t out yet, one can make a few guesses.
What Could The Engine Be?
The ZRV revealed for China has a ‘240 Turbo’ badging on the tailgate.
This is the same badge that is used on the Integra which is sold by GAC Honda in China.
Now, the Integra is a liftback coupe that is powered by a 1.5L turbocharged 4-cylinder petrol engine mated to a CVT.
It produces 180 bhp and 240 Nm of torque.
So it can be surmised that this same advanced VTEC Turbo unit is likely to power the new Honda ZRV SUV.
This will make it one of the most powerful compact SUVs in the Chinese market.
No SUV For India
Currently GAC Honda is only accepting registrations of interest.
An actual formal launch will happen by the end of this year.
Aside from the pseudo crossover based on Jazz hatchback, Honda has no SUVs to offer in India.
Which is a surprise considering the meteoric rise in sales registered by the SUV segment in the last few years, implying that the country is more than ready for a new entrant.

Honda was going to launch HRV in India to take on Creta and Seltos.
But this got scrapped probably because of pricing since HRV is a lot costlier.
But now reports say that Honda is developing an India-specific compact SUV.
It will apparently launch next year and most likely be powered by a petrol ICE and hybrid option.
