ActionStep, a New Zealand based software and IT company is offering unlimited leaves to all employees!
This is certainly one new strategy to retain and motivate employees.
But, how will this work out?
High Trust Model
Working at Actionstep means being part of a team that works hard and party header.
Initially, they offered 1-month paid leave for all the employees, which Netflix and Linkedin too attempted.
But now, they have gone one-step further, and announced unlimited leaves for all employees, no question asked.
They call it ‘High Trust Model’.
Unlimited Leaves!
Stevie Mayhew, Actionstep’s vice president of engineering, described this leave policy as “high–trust model.”
He explained, “It allows folks to take the time off they need and then come back and perform their best job for us. There was some scepticism at first, and a few queries like, ‘Can I simply take three months off and go?’ but we’ve been able to work through all of the questions with our team and get them enthusiastic about the opportunity,”.
He added, “We’ve introduced a minimum requirement in all of our offices throughout the world so that we can track to these objectives and ensure that individuals are taking at least that much time,”
It would be interesting to observe how this company is able to maintain productivity and deliver projects on time, with this policy of unlimited leaves.
