TVS Motor will soon launch a new variant of its popular Ntorq 125 in the coming months.

It enjoys popularity thanks to good performance, especially compared to rivals.

The XT variant will likely be placed above the XP variants.

Mechanical Features

The changes include a new paint scheme along with revised instrument cluster  and some technological upgrades.

The underpinnings and cycle parts remain unchanged and continues with the telescopic front forks, side-mounted monoshock, with 12-inch alloy wheels (with tubeless tyres) on both ends.

 A front disc brake is clearly visible on the front while the rear should use a drum unit.

Variants

The offered variants include standard drum brake, standard disc brake, Race Edition, Super Squad Edition, and Race XP Edition.

Although there is no official word on where this new variant would be positioned in this range, it’s likely to be the new top-spec variant.

Engine, Top Speed, Acceleration

The variant runs on a single-cylinder, air-cooled, 124.8cc engine, available in two states of tune.

On the race XP variant, this motor generates 9.38 PS and 10.5 Nm, while on the other variants, this powerplant is good for 10.2 PS and 10.8 Nm. Transmission duties are handled by a CVT on all variants.

It achieves a top speed of 95 kmph and goes from 0-60 kmph in just 9 seconds.

The under-seat storage of the scooter is 20-litres.

Features

Prominent features include LED fuel indicator, USB charger, engine kill switch, dual steering lock, disc brake of 220mm etc.

It is very likely to get the fully-digital instrument console with Bluetooth-enabled smartphone connectivity.

It will get a SmartXonnect connected system, which offers features like: 

  • Turn-by-turn navigation
  • Caller ID
  • Last parked location
  • Ride report, etc. 

Apart from that, LED headlight and brake light, kill switch, pass light switch, USB charging port, an external fuel filler, etc are also equipped.

Pricing, Competition

It is expected to be pricier than the existing ‘XP’ trim which costs Rs 89,211 (ex-showroom).

It will be accordingly priced, somewhere close to Rs 90k. 

Ntorq range starts with the standard model that retails for Rs 77,106 (drum) and Rs 81,561 (disc). 

Race edition is available at a starting price of Rs 85,161 whereas Super Squad edition costs Rs 87,661. 

Range topping Race XP variant is offered at Rs 89,211.

As mentioned, launch will take place in the coming months, after which it will compete against Suzuki Avenis 125, Honda Dio, and Aprilia SR 125 etc.
