Indian Railways Will Provide Water Via Trains In Rajasthan: Rs 15 Lakh Will Be Spent Per Day For Water Train

In the scorching and unbearable heat brought upon us by the summer, the cities of Rajasthan are facing a water crisis. 

In fact, the scenario is so bad that Pali city will be provided drinking water from a water train after April 15. Also, 15 cities will be given drinking water through tankers. 

Pali in Rajasthan Suffers From Water Crisis

Pali receives its water supply from the Jawai Dam, which contains water till the end of April or the first week of May, after which summer hits the area. 

The rainfall of last year was 40% less than the previous year. Also, the lower level of rainfall dries up all the sustainable water resources dried up in the region.

In addition to this, water is supplied once every 72 hours to 15 towns and 71 other towns are getting water once every 48 hours. 

As per the Chief Engineer of Water Supply Department, preparations have been made for supplying and transporting water. 

The department is preparing for water transport in these areas as there is a scarcity of water in 143 towns.

A water train has also been proposed to be started as the situation in Pali gets worse. The region will reportedly receive 80 lakh liters of water every day through 160 wagons. These will be shipped in four trips from Bhagat-ki-Kothi in Jodhpur to Pali station.

As per reports, the train is expected to start on April 15, which will cost around Rs. 15 lakh per day. It will be continued till the arrival of the monsoon. The water provided will be obtained from various sources, such as Indira Gandhi Canal Project, dams and tube wells.

Recently, we reported that if anyone is found wasting water in the morning between April 15 and June 30, he/she shall be issued challans by the municipal corporation. This is due to the anticipated higher demand for water in summers.

Between 5.30 am and 8.30 am from April 15, activities including watering lawns, washing courtyards and vehicles, etc are prohibited as per the notice. The maintenance of water supply in Mohali is largely under MC’s purview.
