Range Of Hikes

The toll on national highways will increase by 10 to 15 percent.

Depending on the vehicle type, toll tax at different NH toll plazas will become costlier between Rs 5-10 to Rs 50-65.

The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has hiked the tax from Rs 10 to Rs 65.

It has increased the cost of light vehicles by ?10 per vehicle for one way and ?65 for commercial ones.

Upcoming Initiatives

The department revises toll tax every financial year.

Highway and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari recently said that the government is also working on a plan to make the toll levy smoother.

A new norm will be implemented in the next 3 months where there won’t be two toll plazas within 60 km on national highways.

Also in the works is a GPS based toll charge to prevent long queues on toll plazas.

Delhi-Meerut

Toll tax for cars and jeeps has been increased by ?10 in highways connecting Delhi.

The biggest hike has been for the toll of the oversize vehicle, of which one-way toll has been increased by ?65.

Toll charges on the 59.77km Delhi-Meerut Expressway will also increase by at least 10%.

Sarai Kale Khan

Light-motor-vehicles such as cars and jeeps starting on the expressway from Sarai Kale Khan till the end of it at the Kashi toll plaza incur toll tax of ?155, instead of ?140.

Toll tax from Sarai Kale Khan to Rasoolpur Sikrod plaza will be ?100 and ?130 for Bhojpur.

The toll for light motor vehicles from Indirapuram will cost ?105 till Kashi, ?80 to Bhojpur, and ?55 to Rasoolpur Sikrod.

Kherki Daula

Toll tax will also increase at the Kherki Daula toll plaza, located on the Delhi-Jaipur highway, a 14% hike.

The toll on Kundli-Manesar-Palwal Expressway (KMP) will increase by 9% or more.

Large commercial vehicles (trucks, buses, and similar vehicles) at the Kherki Daula toll plaza management will be charged ?235 per trip instead of ?205 earlier.
