TCS, Infosys, HCL, Cognizant End Work From Home: Employees Asked To Return To Office Under Hybrid Work Model
The third wave of the Covid-19 pandemic is almost over which is marked by the falling rate of coronavirus cases. But, the information technology (IT) companies are still treading cautiously when it comes to getting employees back into the office. Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and HCL Technologies have implemented the hybrid working model for now.
Tata Consultancy Services
TCS stated, “As the situation with respect to Covid-19 improves across the globe and now that the majority of our associates and their families are vaccinated, we are transitioning into a hybrid mode of working, with our associates choosing to spend time at both, office premises and working remotely.””We will be getting our employees back to offices in the coming months,” the company said.
The company said that it is already encouraging its associates to return to their respective office branches. Senior management level executives are regularly working from offices.
TCS has also shared the specific details on the hybrid model they have implemented, the company said that it is adopting a ’25×25 model’. This model will require no more than 25% of the company’s associates to work from an office at any given point in time, and they will not spend more than 25% of their work time in the office.
“But, an important part of the journey to the 25×25 model is to first bring people back to physical offices and gradually transition into the hybrid work model,” the Tata group company said.
HCL Technologies
Another IT giant HCL Technologies is also moving forward with hybrid mode for now. An HCL spokesperson stated that one of the company’s top priorities is the well-being and safety of its employees and their families.
IT firm Infosys said earlier that it is planning a “phased return to office” and is motivating its employees to just attend office in person for a day or two per week.
Richard Lobo, executive vice-president and head (HR) at Infosys, said that the company is expecting approximately 40-50% employees to start working from the office after the phasal return under the Covid-19 scenario.
Cognizant
Another tech company Cognizant has also said that it has the plan of returning to the office in a phasal manner starting from April 2022 as it keeps a close eye on the Covid-19 situation.
As per the latest data made available by the health ministry, active Covid-19 cases in India have waned to 22,427. The number of Covid cases have been declining gradually.
