Upper Age Limit Removed For All UG NEET Aspirants: Anyone Above 17 Years Of Age Can Attempt NEET Now!

If you are a medical aspirant and wish to give the revered entrance exam NEET-UG to qualify in the best medical universities in the country, you can do so without worrying about your age now.

This is because the National Medical Commission (NMC) announced on Wednesday that the upper age limit criteria for appearing in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET UG), starting NEET UG 2022 has been removed.

Until now, the upper age limit for medical aspirants to sit in the exam was 25 years for the General category and 30 years for SC, ST and OBC candidates.

However now anyone with no upper age limit can appear for the NEET UG.

Upper Limit Criteria for NEET UG 2022 Removed

Dr Pulkesh Kumar, NMC secretary, in a letter addressing the National Testing Agency (NTA), which is the body that conducts the NEET exam, stated that the decision to remove an upper age bar for candidates appearing in NEET UG was taken in a meeting last year in October, so the information bulletin could be notified accordingly.

The NMC secretary also mentioned that this decision was taken after the approval of the commission’s (NMC) chairperson, Dr Suresh Chandra Sharma.

The Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Mansukh Mandaviya took it to twitter to mention the new development, stating, “The National Medical Commission removes the fixed upper age limit for appearing in the NEET-UG examination. The decision will immensely benefit aspiring doctors and further help in strengthening medical education in the country.”

Mandaviya mentioned the move as a ‘good news’ for the applicants of NEET UG 2022.

NEET is the only entrance examination for medical aspirant students in India. Through the exams, one can get into MBBS, BDS and some other allied medical courses.

Each year, about 15 lakh students appear for the exam. The examination schedule for NEET UG this year is not out yet.

Last year, the exam was conducted on September 12, in about 13 different languages.
