The central government has announced that all private medical colleges will now charge fees of only 50% of seats, which is similar to the charges levied by government medical colleges.
This will definitely come as a huge relief to medical college students.

50% Seats In Private Medical Colleges Will Have Fees Equal To Government College Fees
A statement has been issued by the PMO, which stated that the decision to slash the fees has been taken in order to benefit the students who belong to the “poor and middle-class” section of society.
As per Prime Minister Narendra Modi, “A few days back, the government has taken another big decision, which will benefit the poor and middle class children. We have decided that half the seats in private medical colleges will be charged at par with government medical colleges: PM @narendramodi”
On February 3, the National Medical Commission (NMC) had issued an office memorandum, wherein it was stated that the fees for 50% of seats in private medical colleges and deemed universities should be equal to that of the government medical colleges of a particular state or Union Territory.
Reduced Fees Applicable From Next Academic Session
As per NMC, this decision would be effective from the next academic session. Additionally, the newly launched initiative will ensure that all students who have availed of government quota seats are limited to 50 percent of the total sanctioned strength of the respective medical college/deemed university, will be benefited through this fee structure.
As per the memo that was issued on February 3, if the government quota seats are less than 50 percent of the total sanctioned seats, then the remaining candidates would get the benefit of having to pay a fee that is equal to that of government medical colleges, which will be based only on merit.
