Cooking Gas Price Increased By Rs 105 For Commercial Usage: 2nd Most Expensive Price Ever!

In January, we reported to you that Govt has announced an immediate reduction of cooking gas cylinders across India. Up to Rs 102.50 were to be now reduced, per cylinder.

However, as per the newest reports coming in, the prices of LPG have been hiked by a whopping Rs. 105. This marks the second highest price of LPG in the history of LPG cylinders.

Price Hike Of LPG Cylinders: Second Highest Ever

As per a price notification issued by state-owned fuel retailers, the price of a 19 kg commercial cylinder has been hiked to Rs. 2,012 which was Rs. 1,907 previously.

In December 2021, the rate of commercial liquified petroleum gas was Rs. 2101 which was the highest rate ever.

As we all know, the rates of LPG are revised on the 1st of every month, which is decided on the price of benchmark fuel in the previous month. However, the price of domestic cooking gas LPG, sold to households, was not changed since October, when it was hiked to Rs. 899.50 per 14.2 kg cylinder.

There has been increasing criticism by the opposition over the prices being hiked by Rs. 90 in the last six months. This might be the reason behind the freeze in the prices of domestic LPG.

Fuel Rates To Increase After Elections?

There are reports that suggest that fuel rates may be increased after the elections in the UP end on March 7, as there has been a huge hike in global crude oil prices after the invasion of Ukraine by Russia.

Last year in August, PM Modi had launched the PM Ujjwala Yojana 2.0, the second phase of the free LPG cylinder scheme.

This was launched at Mahoba, Uttar Pradesh yesterday, where UP CM Yogi offered the first free gas connection on behalf of PM Modi.

Interestingly, UP went for legislative elections this year, so this was a pretty timely move. In this 1st phase of this scheme, more than 1,47,43,862 LPG connections were distributed for free.
