March is set to be an eventful month for the global auto industry with several marquee names making their debut. 

9 of them will be new car launches and 3 will be global car unveilings.

SKODA SLAVIA

Replacing the Rapid sedan in India, it is powered by 1.0L TSI and 1.5L TSI petrol engines.

Prices of the former will be announced on 28th February and the latter on 3rd March.

It is based on the MQB A0 IN platform and will be offered in Active, Ambition and Style trims.

Most features are derived from the Kushaq SUV.

MERCEDES-MAYBACH S-CLASS

Prices will be announced on 3rd March.

It will be offered in two variants- S580 and S680.

The former runs on a 503bhp, 4.0L V8 and the latter on a 612bhp, 6.0L V12 engine.

A 9-speed automatic gearbox will be standard across the model lineup.

LEXUS NX 350H

The new gen Lexus NX 350h will arrive in India on 9th March.

It gets significant exterior and interior updates along with a new 300h guise.

It is powered by a 2.5L Atkinson petrol cycle powertrain delivering 192bhp.

With an AWD system, the SUV delivers a combined power of 244bhp.

The engine has a pair of e-motors fitted on the front and rear axles.

MARUTI ERTIGA FACELIFT

It’s reported to launch next month, although the official date hasn’t been announced yet.

The MPV will likely feature a newly-designed grille and colour schemes along with few updates inside the cabin. 

It retains the 105bhp, 1.5L engine with a manual and a new 6-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox.

BMW X4 FACELIFT

It arrives in India next month and bookings are open for the amount of  Rs 50,000.

The SUV will get a limited ‘Black Shadow Edition’ getting a special black treatment.

Other new features include new bumpers, larger kidney grille, new LED headlamps and slim LED tail lights.

It is powered by the same petrol and diesel engines that power the new X3.

MG ZS EV FACELIFT

It’s arriving in March.

It gets the biggest upgrade to its powertrain-  a bigger 51kWh battery pack offering a range of 480km on a single charge.

Presently it’s available with a 44.5kWh battery pack delivering a range of 419km.

JEEP COMPASS TRAILHAWK FACELIFT

The off-road focused version of the Jeep Compass SUV will be launched in March.

It comes with differently designed front and rear bumper improving its approach and departure angles.

It also gets new alloy wheels and a better 4WD system.

Coming to the powertrain, it will use the same 2.0L diesel engine which churns out 170 bhp offered with a 9-speed automatic gearbox.

TOYOTA GLANZA FACELIFT

It will arrive in March with comprehensive design and feature upgrades.

It gets slightly tweaked bumpers, newly-designed headlamps and alloy wheels.

It is powered by the same 90bhp, 1.2L non-hybrid petrol motor with manual and AMT gearboxes.

TOYOTA HILUX

Prices will be announced in March.

It is built on the IMV-2 platform and will be available in two trims – Standard and High.

It’s powered by a 2.8L, 4-cylinder turbo diesel engine churning out power worth 204bhp.

Transmission options include 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox. 

It gets a 4WD system as standard.

NEW FORD ENDEAVOUR

The new-generation Ford Everest (aka Ford Endeavour) will be unveiled on 1st March.

Globally it will be offered with three engines – 

  • 2.0L twin-turbo diesel (210bhp/500Nm)
  • 3.0L turbo diesel (250bhp/600Nm) 
  • 2.3L turbo petrol (270bhp/680Nm)

The new Endeavour model lineup will include a new off-road focused Wildtrack X variant.

VOLKSWAGEN VIRTUS

The mid-size sedan will make its world debut on 8th March with launch in May.

It shares its platform, features and engines with the soon-to-be-launched Skoda Slavia albeit with visual differences.

It will come with 1.0L TSI and 1.5L TSI petrol engines and three gearbox options – 6-speed MT, 6-speed AT and 7-speed DSG AT.

TESLA CYBERTRUCK

This will make its global debut in March.

It will likely be showcased in smaller and bigger versions that will be significantly different from the concept.

The electric pickup truck will come with three powertrain options – one, two and three electric motors.

Its top-spec tri-motor ‘Plaid’ EV powertrain is claimed to deliver a range of 500 mile and accelerate 0 to 60mph in 2.9 seconds.

The range-topping version will have a towing capacity of 650kg.
