On February 18, Hurun released the second edition of the Hurun India Wealth Report 2021 and Hurun Indian Luxury Consumer Survey 2021.

Dollar-millionaire Households

The report said that as compared to 2020, in 2021 the number of dollar-millionaire households in India rose by 11 percent. Dollar- millionaire households means that the net worth of these households is at least Rs 7 crore.

When it comes to the city wise bifurcation, then the financial capital of country leads the list. Mumbai has 20,300 dollar-millionaire households.

The financial capital is followed by the capital. Delhi has 17,400 millionaire households.

The Hurun India Wealth Report 2021 showed that Kolkata has 10,500 millionaire households.

Also, the report said that in the next five years, the number of dollar-millionaire households in India is likely to increase by 30%, which translates to 6,00,000 households by 2026.

Luxury Consumer Survey, Investment Policy & Happiness Index

The brand preferences of millionaires were also revealed in the Hurun luxury consumer survey. It revealed that with 63 percent of HNIs having at least four watches, watch-collection is the preferred hobby of high-net-worth individuals.

Is also revealed that 25% of HNIs change their cars in less than three years and their most preferred car brands are Mercedes-Benz, Rolls-Royce and Range Rover, with Lamborghini being the most preferred luxury sports car brand.

During the pandemic, report says, that 33% of HNIs adopted a risk-averse investment philosophy.

However, as compared to the previous happiness index of 72% in 2020, the report reveals that in 2021, the number has dropped to 66%. Happiness index includes happiness in personal and professional life.
