Work from home may end soon for employees of IT companies in India as they are being called back to offices.
Even as omicron cases fall, IT firms are still mindful of resuming the hybrid work model while at the same time reopening offices to give employees the option to work from there.
IT majors like Wipro, Cognizant, TCS, Infosys are asking their employees to get ready to return to offices as early as next month.

Wipro
Wipro is calling its fully vaccinated senior employees including managers and above to return to offices by March 3.
For the time being they will have to show up for two days a week- Mondays and Thursdays.
For other employees the work from home arrangement will be extended.
Cognizant
Cognizant is also gearing up to welcome its people back to offices on a voluntary return basis by April.
Those employees not assigned to a client site or to working fully remotely must report to the office for 3 days a week and two days “from wherever they work best.”
Shantanu Jha, senior vice president, HR, Cognizant India spoke about the company’s plans.
It will carry out its back to office plans in a phased manner starting April 2022 while continuing to monitor “the uncertain path of the Omicron variant”.
Until then, travel will be restricted and office-based work will remain voluntary.
Infosys
Infosys is expecting to continue with the hybrid work model through 2022 and is planning to open offices in the coming 3-4 months for a vast number of its employees.
Over 96% of its workforce is currently working from home, so the company doesn’t want to rush through its office plans.
Executive vice president, head HR Richard Lobo said that the company is expecting a hybrid model in which approximately 40-50% of employees will work from office “post subsequent phases of return to office”.
TCS
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has a remote working policy in place which requires people to work from the base location even if associates are working from home.
It is adopting a 25X25 model under which it will first bring people back to physical offices.
Then it will gradually transition into the hybrid work model.
