In the coming months, Maruti Suzuki is planning to further strengthen its CNG portfolio as the news of the upcoming new-gen Brezza is making rounds as it most likely gets the S-CNG treatment Back in April 2019.

Maruti Suzuki Expanding CNG Portfolio

As we know, Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) has announced that it would stop selling diesel vehicles in India.

Till that time, the oil-burners have already contributed to 22 percent of the total sales in India.

It seems that Maruti Suzuki began to expand its CNG portfolio over the last few years in order to address the customer’s need to have fuel-efficient vehicles and it has paid off indeed.

The CNG range of Maruti Suzuki was attributed to 15 percent of the total volumes by the end of last month.

According to the carmaker, the share of CNG vehicles could be similar to that of diesel vehicles in 2019 if the CNG demand continues to exist and things go according to plan.

On top of this, MSIL is all prepared to launch three to four more CNG variants based on the existing models in the coming months.

Prior to this, the Indo-Japanese manufacturer introduced the second generation Celerio in November 2021.

Recently, it has debuted the CNG variant of the hatchback.

Increasing Market Share

According to Shashank Srivastava, Senior ED – marketing and sales, Maruti Suzuki, “the upcoming CNG launches will help in increasing its market share” as he believes “the share of CNG can exceed 22%, which we used to have in diesel,”.
