When did the pink screen problem start?

According to the report, an iPhone 13 user made a post on the Apple discussion forum in October informing other iPhone users that their iPhone screen became pink and started crashing randomly. Over the following weeks and months various other similar complaints were posted on the forum.

Another user said that they had the same issue when they were taking a picture and that their screen froze and turned pink before it restarted. This user even called apple support who ran diagnostics and told the user that nothing was wrong. The user said that they were going to keep the phone until the screen turns pink again or until it keeps happening constantly. If the issue becomes constant, the user is going to be returning it as the iPhone 13 was actually purchased only days earlier.

What triggers the pink screen?

The pink screen issue occurs very randomly and no one knows what triggers it. Some users say it is triggered by scrolling through photos while others say they were using GPS when their phone decided to freeze and become pink.

Apple’s response

Apple has taken people’s complaints seriously and has looked into the issue. According to Apple, it is an issue being caused by a software bug. The pink screen seems to have only affected the iPhone 13 lineup.

Official Weibo statement

As per the information given on a blog by MyDrivers, Apple has made an official statement on Weibo, a Chinese microblogging website as majority of the pink screen cases are from China. In their post Apple stated “We didn’t notice relevant problems in the hardware of the devices because this situation [pink screen] is caused when the system is locked.” Apple has advised iPhone 13 users to backup their data and install the latest iOS version.
