Companies hiring from campuses in India have been on the lookout for talent in areas such as web technologies, artificial intelligence (AI), data science and machine learning (ML).

Startups flush with funds have also been on hiring sprees, offering lucrative packages to students embarking on their careers.

The pay package has witnessed a healthy trend with the average CTC in 2021 being at around Rs 28 lakh.

The basic offers start from Rs 18 to Rs 22 lakh per annum and can reach as high as Rs 65 lakh.

Students in top institutions have been receiving offers from abroad as well.

In the Phase 1 placements for academic year 2021-22, 34 international offers were received by the institution.

This is 3 more than the 31 overseas offers overall in 2020-21.

Placement opportunities come from areas such as automobile, data analytics, information technology, machine learning etc.

It has a collaborative relationship with Japan thanks to which Japanese companies pay regular visits to the campus.

Over 90 per cent of placements took place within the first 10 days of the placement season.

Globally renowned companies conducted virtual placement drives and offered packages that were “better than usual”.

He observed that most of the demand came from areas such as web technologies, AI and ML.

The students who were placed will start at their companies from June onwards after their graduation in May 2022.

In the case of IIT-H, top recruiters included the likes of Flipkart, Indeed, Infurnia, JP Morgan, Meesho, Microsoft NTT AT, Newzera, Silicon Labs, Suzuki Motor Corp, TSMC, and Zomato.

They shaped the employability of their students through initiatives such as semester-long internships, interdisciplinary M.Tech, industry lectures, industry-defined M.Tech projects and so on.
