Latest reports reveal that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s convoy got upgraded from Range Rover Vogue and Toyota Land Cruiser to the Mercedes-Maybach S650 armored vehicle.
PM Modi’s New Car
Recently, PM Modi was seen in the new Maybach 650 armored first at Hyderabad House when he met Russian President Vladimir Putin on his short visit to India as per a report on the carandbike portal.
Not only that, the vehicle was again seen in the Prime Minister’s convoy recently.
It holds significance as Mercedes-Maybach S650 Guard is the latest facelifted model with VR10 level protection which is also the highest-ever provided in a production car.
Last year, Mercedes-Maybach launched the S600 Guard in India for Rs 10.5 crore, According to reports.
Similarly, the S650 modal can cost more than Rs 12 crore.
Mercedes-Maybach S650 Guard Feature
Normally, the Special Protection Group or SPG submits the request for a new car as they are responsible for protecting the head of state of the country.
For doing so, the SPG identifies security requirements, further determining whether the person they are protecting needs a new vehicle.
It seems that the SPG asks for the same model of the vehicle since decoys are used.
Coming to Mercedes-Maybach S650 Guard, it is powered by a 6.0-litre twin-turbo V12 engine that produces 516bhp .
With a peak torque of approximately 900Nm and the maximum speed is limited to 160kmph.
Besides this, the S650 Guard body and the windows can withstand hardened steel core bullets.
Also, it has a 2010 Explosion Proof Vehicle (ERV) rating.
Moreover, the occupants of this vehicle are protected from a 15kg TNT explosion from a distance of only 2 meters.
Further, the interior of the window is coated with polycarbonate, it resists shattering and breakage, even in tough applications.
The lower part of the vehicle is heavily armored to protect the occupants from direct explosions.
Apart from this, the cabin has a separate air supply in case of a gas attack.
The Mercedes-Maybach S650 Guard’s fuel tank is coated with a special material as it seals the holes automatically after a hit.
It is made with the same material used in Boeing AH-64 Apache tank attack helicopters.
The vehicle runs on special run-flat tires which can continue to function in case of damage or flat tires to ensure a quick escape.
The car offers a luxurious interior with a seat massager.
The rear seats are repositioned to allow the passengers to sit further back in the car and increase the legroom.
