Top Maruti Suzuki Cars Launching In 2022 That Can Disrupt Indian Auto Market

The carmaker may also launch the Jimny in India.

Maruti Suzuki has at least four cars in its lineup for 2022.

The new-gen Celerio was its highlight for the year gone by, but as many as four facelift models will hit the roads in the coming year.

Baleno

The premium hatchback will receive its first major update in 2022. Launch will likely take place between February to March 2022.

  • Exterior

Going by leaked spy pictures, it gets a wider front grille, redesigned head and tail lamps, new alloy wheels, and reprofiled front and rear bumpers.

  • Interior

The interior also undergoes an upgrade with a larger new touchscreen, a new steering wheel, revised HVAC controls, and repositioned aircon vents.

  • Powertrain

The engine is likely to remain the same with the current pair of 1.2-litre petrol engines – an 83hp standard unit and a 90hp mild-hybrid.

Gearbox choices will include a 5-speed manual as standard on both units.

Vitara Brezza

The compact SUV also gets an update and much like its hatchback sibling, Baleno, it gets a new front fascia, revised posterior, tweaked bumpers, a new touchscreen infotainment system, and most likely an electric sunroof.

  • Name Change?

The Vitara moniker could be dropped from its name since it might make its way to the upcoming five-seater midsize SUV to rival Hyundai Creta.

  • Cabin

Here, the Brezza makes use of more premium quality surface materials and features a new dashboard and centre console.

  • Powertrain

The 1.5-litre K18 four-cyl petrol producing close to 105 PS and 138 Nm is likely to remain unchanged albeit with higher levels of hybridisation for improved economy.

Alto

The brand new iteration gets a size upgrade and will shift to Maruti’s modular Heartect platform which will keep it light despite its larger dimensions.

  • Exterior

It gets a completely new front end, with larger, upward-swooping headlamps, a new bumper with an oversized mesh grille, new fog lamp housings and a clamshell bonnet.

  • Interior

The car gets a makeover here as well, with it being more spacious.

Although it hasn’t been revealed yet, it is expected to have a more modern design and new features.

  • Engine, Gearbox

It is expected to continue with the existing 796cc three-cylinder petrol engine that produces 47bhp and 69Nm torque.

The Celerio’s K10C petrol engine with dual-jet technology may also be offered on the new Alto as the Heartect platform will also be able to support it.

The engine is claimed to produce class-leading fuel economy figures.

Transmission options could include a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT gearbox.

  • Launch

Launch will likely happen around Diwali 2022 and a price hike can be expected given the major overhaul it is getting.

XL6

The NEXA-exclusive 6-seater MPV will likely be updated with spy images revealing a newly designed grille and alloy wheels.

  • Cabin

Here, one can expect new seat upholstery and features like a new touchscreen infotainment system.

  • Powertrain

The 2022 facelift will continue to house the same 1.5L petrol engine with mild hybrid technology.

Jimny?

Apart from the four mentioned here, the carmaker may also launch the Jimny in India.

It is presently being locally assembled for export to international markets.
