Maruti Suzuki Swift – 23.76 km/l

The Maruti Suzuki Swift is undoubtedly one of the most popular cars in the country. It was the best-selling passenger vehicle in India in FY2021. Fuel-efficiency of its engine is one of the key USPs for this success. According to ARAI, the compact hatchback returns an average fuel efficiency of 23.76 kmpl.

Maruti Suzuki Celerio – 26.68 km/l

ARAI has certified the fuel efficiency of 26.68 kmpl for Celerio. In some cases, this car gives better fuel efficiency than some diesel cars as well in the compact hatch segment. It is the VXI AGS variant that offers the highest fuel efficiency of 26.68 kmpl. The Zxi+ MT trim is the least fuel-efficient variant which runs at an average of 24.97 kmpl, This value is still more than the rest of the models on this list.

Renault Kiger – 20.53 km/l

Kiger is the first subcompact SUV from Renult. It is based on the same CMF-A+ platform at the Triber. The car is offered in two petrol engine options – a 1.0-liter naturally aspirated motor and a 1.0-liter turbo petrol engine. The manual version of the petrol engine offers higher fuel efficiency of 20.53 kmpl. The naturally aspirated engine offers 19.17 kmpl.

Renault Kwid – 22 km/l

Even though the latest version of the car received very minute updates, the Renault Kwid continues to be one of the most fuel-efficient petrol cars in the entry-level space. The car’s 1.0-litre AMT version offers a fuel-efficiency figure of 22 kmpl, which has been certified by Renault Kwid.

Tata Punch – 18.97 km/l

The Tata Punch was one of the highly anticipated cars to enter the Indian market this year. The micro-SUV, based on the company’s ALFA platform has got attractive looks. It comes with smart features, and also holds a 5-star safety rating from Global NCAP. It only comes with a petrol engine under the hood, and that offers a fuel efficiency of 18.97 kmpl that has been certified by ARAI.
