Obamas At The Top

Barack Obama has once again clinched the top spot to become the world’s most admired man in YouGov’s international survey this year.

Michelle Obama has also secured the top position to become the world’s most admired woman for the third year running.

Incidentally, the top three spots for each sex are unchanged since last year.

Philanthropists

Long-time incumbent business tycoon and philanthropist Bill Gates comes in second among men.

Sudha Murty, chairperson of the Infosys Foundation, is at #14.

Politicians/ Major Government Figures

Chinese premier Xi Jinping is at #3 and US President Joe Biden is at #20.

In the women’s category, British monarch Queen Elizabeth II is at #3.

India’s PM Narendra Modi ranks #8, a drop from #4 last year.

Bollywood Shines Big

Another big Indian name is Priyanka Chopra on the women’s list, climbing five places to 10th position.

At #13 is Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.

Among the men, Shahrukh Khan is ranked #14.

He is followed by Amitabh Bachchan at #15.

Sportsmen

Cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar is at #12 and Virat Kohli at #18.

Football megastar Cristiano Ronaldo is the world’s 4th most admired man, and fellow superstar Lionel Messi is ranked 7th.

Compiling The List

Panellists across 38 countries and territories are asked to nominate living people that they most admire.

The winners are determined to be those who received the most nominations and were nominated in at least four countries.

An additional 5-10 popular local figures were added to the lists for individual countries.
