In the state of Goa, a bottle of beer from local brands is being sold at Rs 60, whereas if you need to buy petrol, then you need to pay Rs 96, and if you desire to have tomatoes, then you need to pay approximately Rs 160 per kilo (Current rates as of December 13,2021)

This has indeed created a unique situation in Goa, which is primarily a tourist destination.

With rising costs of food and fuel, the tourism industry is definitely suffering, and tourists are forced to pay more money.

But, thankfully, the price of beer is stable despite this chaos!

What’s The Reason Behind This?

Due to weather conditions, and prevailing market situation, cost of vegetables have skyrocketed in Goa, and at some locations, the price of one kg of tomato has already crossed Rs 150 mark.

While at some remorse location, tomatoes are being sold at Rs 100-Rs 120 per kilo.

On the other hand, fuel prices, despite lowering of VAT by Centre, and some relief from State taxes, Rs 100/litre for petrol is the average cost in Goa.

At the same time, the cost of beer has remained stable, and one can easily get one bottle by paying Rs 60-Rs 90 for premium brands of beer.

Alcohol has lowest taxes in Goa, compared to other states, and this can be the primary reason for this trend.

It’s expected that the price of vegetables, especially tomatoes will come down in the next few weeks.
