Amazon-owned IMDb has released the list of the top movies and series of the year in India. 

What may or may not come as a bit of a shock is that an Indian movie has surpassed the likes of The Godfather and The Shawshank Redemption in terms of ratings.

Courtroom drama Jai Bhim has become the highest-rated film on IMDb- a database for all things entertainment. 

Top 3 Highest Rated

The TJ Ganavel-directed film with star Saravanan Sivakumar aka Suriya at the centre is ranked 9.6 out of 10.

It is now at the number one spot in IMDB’s top 250 movies list.

Now trailing behind the movie on the website are the 9.3 rated- The Shawshank Redemption at number 2.

At number 3 is The Godfather with a rating of 9.2.
