Ola Postpones EV Delivery; Blames Chip Shortage

Ola has informed the customers who have booked the scooters that there will be a delay in the deliveries of the much hyped electric scooter.

The mail says, “This in an important update regarding the delivery of your Ola S1 scooter. Due to the ongoing global shortage of chipsets and electronic parts, there are some unavoidable delays to your Ola S1 delivery. Your revised delivery window is 15th-31st December. We apologise for this delay and assure you that we are ramping up production as fast as we can so that you can get your Ola S1 at the earliest.”

The global chip shortage has affected multiple automobile manufacturers for many months now. Also, when the company allowed reviewers to ride its test scooters last week, several features were found to not be available, such as hill hold, voice-activated commands, remote unlocking through an app on a phone, playing music through the speakers, and visual moods.

Delivery Of Electric Bike Postponed Twice!

This is not the first time that the delivery of the electric scooters has been delayed by Ola. The bookings were taken in July and the deliveries were expected to begin in October. This did not happen instead Ola started test drives in November for the customers who had paid Rs. 20,499 as a booking amount.

We had reported to you that Ola Electric is grabbing headlines as Ola Electric has deferred final payment for the S1 and S1 Pro e-scooters until next month after encountering customers dissatisfaction and anger online over a lack of clarity on booking, delivery, and test rides of its newly-launched electric scooters.

Ola has always done the best but what has happened this time?

From November 10, the electric two-wheeler maker, which had accepted bookings for the e-scooters for two days for a minimal fee of $499 in September, would begin demanding full payment.
