In long-distance trains, Indian Railways plans to convert general coaches into air-conditioned compartments. The modified general AC coaches will seat 100-200 persons, allowing common people to utilise them as the fares will be low.

According to TOI, railways is formulating and developing plans.

While the Railways have not confirmed anything, the first of these AC General Class coaches are expected to be built at the Railway Coach facility in Kapurthala, Punjab.

The New AC- Economy Class!

The Indian Railways are targeted to achieve greater heights of performance as sleeper coaches are uncomfortable for long-distance trains.

To allow for faster and more comfortable travel the national transporter worked hard to replace sleeper coaches with AC-3 tier Economy.

No Special Trains From Now!

The Indian Railways said on Friday that the “special” tag for mail and express trains will be phased out and ticket costs will revert to pre-pandemic levels with immediate effect.

The Railway Board has decided to reinstate the number, rate, and category of regular timetabled trains that are now operating as Mail/Express Special and Holiday Special owing to the Covid-19 epidemic, according to a circular published by the ministry.

Currently, 95 per cent of express trains are running again, with 25% of these trains still operating under the “special category.”
