The government had to put up with lockdown and restrictions to tackle the spread of the virus. Almost everything was at a loss as the spread had left economies and businesses stranded.

And slowly we had to switch to “WORK FROM HOME”. It was the new normal and people had to accept the fact. But now there is a prolonged drop in new infections in the country.

Many IT businesses have taken the initiative of mass-vaccinating their personnel to ensure that they are protected from Covid, while also preparing them to return to work.

Companies Planning To Adopt A Hybrid Work Model!

Big IT firms are planning for a hybrid work model, in which employees can work a few days from the office and a few days from home.

Employees and employers alike are keen to return to the workplace, but in a hybrid model, according to a recent survey by the industry body National Association of Software and Services Companies (Nasscom) and job portal Indeed.

According to the Nasscom Return to Workplace Survey, over half of the workforce will be working from the office for at least three days a week by 2022. Almost 70% of the companies surveyed preferred the hybrid model!

TCS 25/25 Model

TCS has announced that it is moving from work from home to work from the office! By the end of this year or the beginning of next year, the corporation plans to call 90% of its employees back to work.

In earlier September, Wipro Chairman Rishad Premji announced calling employees back to the office. Milind Lakkad, global head, human resources had said that TCS created a blueprint, Vision 25/25 to ensure that 25 per cent of its employees were present only 25 per cent of the time in offices to be 100 per cent productive.

TCS workers are asked to report back to their respective locations by November 15. 

TCS CEO Rajesh Gopinathan first highlighted its 25×25 or 25/25 plan during the company’s FY20 annual report. He has spoken about it since on multiple occasions.

“Our customers are comfortable with this model and want us to take more work that others are not able to handle. This has given us the confidence to come out with a bold new Vision 25/25,”

According to the Nasscom-Indeed report, 72 per cent of companies plan to operate at 50 per cent workforce capacity starting next year.

Infosys 

Infosys had a total employee base of 2.67 lakh at the end of the June quarter, as compared to 2.59 lakh in the March quarter.

Infosys, while announcing the quarterly earnings, said that it is engaging to adopt a hybrid work model as more of its employees have been vaccinated against Covid-19.

“With over 86% of Infoscions in India having received at least one dose of ‘vaccination’, we are now preparing to embrace the hybrid work model. We have equipped employees with the resources they need to be productive, cyber-secure, stay connected, and maintain a work-life balance. Our talent strategy also factors in expanded hiring pools that include new communities and work locations,”

According to the Nasscom-Indeed Survey, middle management, specifically those between the ages of 25 and 40, are comfortable with working from home.

Wipro

Wipro allowed its employees in the leadership roles to return to the office from early September. In earlier September, Wipro Chairman Rishad Premji announced calling employees back to the office.

Wipro has vaccinated over 85 per cent of its global employees with the first dosage, and 50 per cent have been fully vaccinated.

Thierry Delaporte, Wipro’s CEO and MD stated at the company’s second-quarter financial results that fully-vaccinated personnel can now work from the company’s India location.

HCL

Almost 90% of the HCL employees and their families are fully or partially vaccinated and thus the employees are asked to return to the office.
