An Alternative To Wagon R

This new model can definitely serve as a premium alternative to the Wagon R.

Maruti is offering this all new Celerio in four variants including LXI, VXI, ZXI, and ZX+.

Moreover, it comes with six paint options including Speedy Blue, Fire Red, Silky Silver, Glistening Grey, Caffeine Brown, and Arctic White.

This new model is wider than its predecessor by 55mm and has a 40 percent bigger boot space, of 313 litres.

New Celerio Features

Coming to features, it has a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, passive keyless entry, engine push-button start-stop, and hill-hold assist.

In terms of power, it is powered by a new 67PS/89Nm 1-litre Dualjet petrol engine, with a segment-first automatic idle start-stop feature.

Coming to transmission, it has options for 5-speed manual and AMT.

New Celerio Price And Bookings

The second-generation Celerio is priced from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 6.94 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) in India.

Bookings are also open and you can book for a token of Rs 11,000.

The first generation gets an update after seven years, as it was launched in 2014.

In terms of design, the second-gen hatch ditches its earlier squarish design for a more curvier silhouette.

With this change, it looks classier than its predecessor.

In simple words, the next gen Celerio is a more premium and better-looking alternative to the Wagon R, compared to the typical ‘boxy’ appearance.

Most Fuel Efficient Petrol Car With Features

The new Celerio has features like steering wheel-mounted audio controls, the Wagon R’s semi-digital instrument cluster, and electric ORVMs with turn indicators.

For passenger safety, the new Celerio is equipped with dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, hill-hold assist (automatic variants only), and rear parking sensors.

Although, it misses out on a rear parking camera, which could have been a valuable addition (on the top-spec variant).

For the engines, the Celerio is powered by a new 1-litre DualJet three-cylinder petrol engine that produces 67PS and 89Nm.

Apart from this, the new model gets a segment-first automatic idle start-stop feature which is paired with 5-speed manual and AMT options.

According to Maruti, Celerio is the most fuel efficient petrol car in India, offering 26.68kmpl (ARAI-claimed).
