Market Position

This has helped its manufacturer Tata Motors record its highest monthly sales tally in a decade.

It earned market share of 13.7% in October, with Punch accounting for almost 25% of the company’s sales.

It is now only behind Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai.

Pricing

Its pricing at the range of Rs 5.49-9.09 lakh has attracted several buyers seeking an SUV in that range.

The sub-compact SUV is positioned below Tata Nexon and above Tata Altroz, creating a new identity for the brand.

Such is its popularity that customers having pre-ordered in major metros now face a waiting period of up to 4 months.

Massive Waiting Period For Pre Orders

Customers in Bangalore and Hyderabad will have to wait for up to 2 months.

Mumbai, Pune and Kolkata customers can expect delays of up to 3 months.

The number rises to 4 months for customers in Delhi.

It is offered in four different variants – Pure, Adventure, Accomplished and Creative.

It scored 16.45 out of 17 points for adult safety, becoming the third Tata model to get a 5-Star rating in the category.

The other two Tata models recognised are Altroz and Nexon.

It also got 40.89 out of 49 points for child occupant safety, making it the second Indian car to achieve the feat.

Powertrain, Transmission, Competition

There is only a single engine option-  a 1.2-litre three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine with 86 PS and 113 Nm output.

All variants come with a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard.

Except the base Pure variant, the other three are also available with a 5-speed AMT gearbox.


Its rivals include the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, Maruti Suzuki Swift, Maruti Ignis, Nissan Magnite, and Renault Kiger.
