Indian IT workers have been forced to stay inside their homes for more than 18 months now. They successfully fulfilled their responsibilities in these tough times. Now as the vaccination is in full swing, and the daily number of covid cases decreasing gradually, various IT companies have started to ask employees back to the offices. It includes IT majors like TCS, Infosys, Wipro, and HCL Technologies.

TCS and Infosys are preparing to welcome employees back in the office

According to TCS, 70% of employees have been fully vaccinated and around 95% have received at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine. So, it has become a good reason to call employees back in the offices. “With 70 percent of TCSers (employees of TCS) fully vaccinated, and over 95 percent having received at least one dose, we plan to gradually get our workforce back in the office by the end of this year,” Milind Lakkad, TCS CHRO said.

TCS has announced that 25% of its employees will continue to work from home till 2025 depending on the requirement. For those who will be required to come back to the office, the company has ensured full safety.

After TCS, Infosys, the country’s second-biggest outsourcer, is also preparing to follow a hybrid work model going forward.

“With over 86% of Infoscions (employees of Infosys) in India having received at least one dose of ‘vaccination’, we are now preparing to embrace the hybrid work model. We have equipped employees with the resources they need to be productive, cyber-secure, stay connected, and maintain a work-life balance. Our talent strategy also factors in expanded hiring pools that include new communities and work locations,” the COO of Infosys, Pravin Rao said.

Wipro And HCL also follow the suit

Notably, fully-vaccinated employees of Wipro have started working from the office last month after a hiatus of 18 months. Now, fully vaccinated employees are coming to the office two days a week. Wipro Chairman Rishad Premji, announced on Tweeter, “After 18 long months, our leaders @Wipro are coming back to the office starting tomorrow (twice a week).  All fully vaccinated, all ready to go – safely and socially distanced! We will watch this closely”.

HCL Technologies has also started asking its senior employees to work from an office at least twice a week, while others are required to attend office once a week as per requirement. “We do expect momentum to increase by the end of this calendar year. This is the policy that we have at this point of time,” Apparao VV, CHRO of the company said.
