A non-stop flight between Delhi and Sydney has now been introduced by Australian airline Qantas.

This airline will run three times a week starting from December 6.

Australian Airline To Operate Nonstop Flight Between Delhi and Sydney

The new flight between Sydney and Delhi is Qantas’  first commercial flight between India and Australia in almost a decade. Prior to this, Qantas operated direct commercial flights between India and Australia in 2009, to Mumbai.

The airline has released a statement in which it states that the frequency will increase to a daily service by the end of the year. This flight is subject to discussions with the Indian authorities to finalize approvals.

As per the statement, the flights will operate until at least late March 2022 in the beginning. The continuation of the flight will depend on its demand. The flights from Delhi to Sydney will operate non-stop, whereas those from Sydney to Delhi will operate through Darwin.

Australian Government Hopes Indian Tourists To Visit India After Borders Open

In the last 12 months, the airline has operated more than 50 repatriation flights from India to take Australians back to the country on behalf of the Australian Government.

We recently reported to you that after an 18-month hiatus, Australia has announced to lift the travel ban for international flights arriving from overseas countries from November. Prime Minister Scott Morrison announced the decision recently, claiming that over 80% of the population aged 16 and up had been completely vaccinated. 

Qantas Group CEO Alan Joyce said: “Given the strong ties between Australia and India, flights between Delhi and Sydney have been on our radar for some time, and we think there will be strong demand from family and friends wanting to reconnect once borders open.”

He has stated that tourists from India will travel to Australia once borders reopen to international visitors.

Before the pandemic hit the world, Air India was the only airline that offered non-stop connections between India and Australia. Other than that, Singapore Airlines and Thai Airways also provided one-stop connections from various cities in India to various cities in Australia.
