Maruti Launching These 4 New SUVs Starting At Rs 5 Lakh To Fight Tata, Hyundai, Kia

Maruti Suzuki has ruled the hatchback segment for decades now. Maruti Suzuki is now also aiming to dominate the fast-growing SUV segment. This segment is being ruled by Hyundai, Mahindra, and Tata Motors as they offer a wide range of products. However, to conquer the segment Maruti Suzuki is now readying at least 4 new SUVs for the domestic market.

YTB sub-4 meter SUV

The new subcompact SUV will be positioned between the S-Presso and the Vitara Brezza. The car which is codenamed YTB, the new subcompact SUV will be based on the Heartect platform that underpins the Baleno and the Swift. This model will directly rival the newly launched Tata Punch.

It is most likely to be powered by a 1.2-liter 4-cylinder petrol engine that powers the Baleno, Swift, and the Dzire. This engine can also receive an SHVS mild-hybrid system for improved efficiency. Adding to it, the powertrain could be more powerful than the one offered in the Baleno. This car is expected to hit the markets in 2022.

Next-gen Vitara Brezza

The company is also planning to introduce the second generation Vitara Brezza sometime in 2022. The new model will be based on the advanced version of the Heartect platform. The platform will have improved safety and security. It should be noted that the next-gen Brezza will retain the original design with modern design elements.

The SUV will come with modern features like a bigger and advanced touchscreen infotainment system, connected car tech, factory-fitted sunroof, and a 6-speed automatic gearbox. It will be powered by a 1.5-liter petrol engine with a stronger hybrid system.

5-Door Suzuki Jimny

The 5 Door Jimny will be launched in our market in 2022. It will be based on the Jimny Sierra. It will ride on a 300mm longer wheelbase at the same time the length of the SUV will be increased by 300mm. It will offer more space inside the cabin. It will measure 3,850mm in length, 1,645mm in width, and 1,730mm in height.

The new Suzuki Jimny LWB will be powered by a 1.5-liter K15B petrol engine with a mild hybrid system. It produces 100bhp of power and 130Nm of torque. It will come with transmission options of a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed torque converter automatic. The international-spec model is likely to get a 1.4-liter turbocharged petrol engine with a mild-hybrid system.

Maruti-Toyota Mid-Sized SUV

Maruti Suzuki and Toyota joint venture are now gearing up for a new mid-sized SUV for the Indian market. It will compete with the likes of Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, and the MG Astor. The car will hit the market in 2023. It will be produced at Toyota’s facility in Bidadi, Karnataka. According to reports, the new model will be based on Toyota’s new low-cost DNGA (Daihatsu New Generation Architecture) that also underpins the Toyota Raize sub-compact SUV.
