Pune Allows 100% Capacity In All Offices

After deputy chief minister of Maharashtra, Ajit Pawar announced further relaxation of rules in the state,  Pune Municipal Corporation has announced that offices in the city can now work with 100% capacity.

As per the order issued by Pune municipal commissioner Vikram Kumar, offices along with colleges in the city can now operate seamlessly.

Earlier, offices were allowed to be operational with only 25% capacity.

For colleges, only fully vaccinated students will be allowed inside the campus, and those who are coming from other cities, negative RT-PCR Test is mandatory.

Ajit Pawar said, “The district’s weekly positivity rate has dipped to 3.01% with PMC registering 2.5%, PCMC at 2.3% and Pune rural at 3.6%. So, we have decided to reopen colleges with full precautions,”

IT Employee Union Demands 100% Work From Home

Last month, prominent IT Employees Union: NITES had demanded 100% work from home, as few IT companies have started opening their offices, and asking employees to end work from home, and start working from office.

As per NITES, this is a dangerous precedent, and can lead to further infections.

As per reports, NITES have already submitted their petitions regarding the same to Maharashtra Govt.

Harpreet Saluja,  President, Nascent Information Technology Employees Senate – NITES said, “We have requested prompt intervention and support of Hon’ble CMOMaharashtra Shri Uddhav Thackeray ji and Labour Minister Shri Hasan Mushrif ji to allow 100% operations of IT/ITeS/BPO/KPO companies from home to safeguard life, jobs and families of more than 9 lakh IT/ITeS/BPO/KPO employees in Maharashtra.

Considering the increasing number of patients & death rate in Maharashtra the employees shouldn’t be forced to resume offices by the companies & should be allowed to work from home. There are several challenges for the employees in resuming offices physically as a lot of employees are from neighbouring towns & districts. Due to lockdown the employees had no options but to shift to their native places.

Now if suddenly employees would be forced to shift back to Pune it will be a chaotic situation. Most of the employees are not willing to go back to office. In the WFH model, none of the work got stuck and none of the clients had any problem with people working from home. With the festive season ahead, we cannot rule out the anticipated third wave. Also 95% of IT employees in our survey do not want to resume work from office. The product and quality of work has improved in the WFH model.

If we look from the employees perspective, they are still considering safety first. It is our fervent hope that the lives of employees & their family members would be considered & given priority while taking decisions regarding operations of IT/ITeS/BPO/KPO companies.”

This is a developing story… We will keep you updated as more details come in.
