The Indian Railways is reportedly operating its first ever air-conditioned parcel train for carrying a refrigerated cargo of chocolates and snacks.

This train will be using passenger coaches to carry these refrigerated cargo of chocolates and snacks.

Indian Railways To Start A Parcel Train For Carrying Refrigerated Chocolates And Snacks

The railway minister, Ashwini Vaishnav, has confirmed this through a tweet. He has tweeted, “Innovative methods to carry refrigerated cargo: First-time chocolate and its raw material, noodles & tomato sauce, etc. moved in 2AC/3 AC train from Sanahwal to Yesvantpur.”

The Indian Railways will be operating this  AC parcel express train consisting of 20 2nd AC/3rd AC coaches. The refrigerated cargo departed from Sanehwal in Ferozpur division to Yeshwantpur in South-Western Railway.

The cargo, as per the officials of the national transporter, consist of edible snacks, chocolates, raw material for chocolates, Maggi noodles, sauce) and textiles etc weighed 121 tonnes.

Apparently, the passenger seats were removed to accommodate this cargo as a part of the experiment to remove the coaches that have been lying idle. 

Western Railways To Install New Cameras Under Integrated Surveillance System

Additionally, the Western Railways will now be installing 2,729 cameras with 4K technology in all of its 30 stations of Mumbai suburban network from Virar to Churchgate, under the integrated surveillance system.

As per the Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of Western Railways, these cameras are worth Rs. 60 crores and have been installed in 30 stations of the Mumbai local train network. As per the CPRO, “These cameras will help us keep an eye on the crowd, any abandoned object or trespassing in the stations.”

The CPRO has also stated that the cameras with face recognition will help recognise a person whose face has been stored in the database, and in case this happens, an alert will immediately be sent to the concerned authorities. The recognition can be done through any part of the face, such as the retina or forehead.
