Purpose

Similar to the Unified Payments Interface which revolutionized payments, this Mission will create interoperability within the digital health ecosystem.

The key components of PM-DHM include a Health ID which doubles as a health account.

What Is It Exactly?

It is a unique randomly generated 14-digit health identification number which stores all health-related information of a person.

This information includes details of every test, every disease, the doctors visited, the medicines taken and the diagnosis.

Health ID is created by using a person’s basic details and mobile number or Aadhaar number.

It can be linked and viewed with the help of a mobile application, a Healthcare Professionals Registry (HPR), and Healthcare Facilities Registries (HFR).

Benefits

The service is free of cost and voluntary.

It is useful due to its portability and accessibility even if the person changes locations or doctors.

This will also ensure ease of doing business for doctors and hospitals and healthcare service providers.

Practical And Efficient?

Fortis Hospital’s Ashutosh Raghuvanshi explains, “The biggest advantage is that patients won’t have to repeat certain investigations, tests, etc. since unified standards and data formats will ensure uniformity and allow caregivers to look at this data and act on it.”

He says that this helps with savings and efficiency.

However, the true effects can only be gauged by its implementation and last mile delivery.
