Drive Mumbai-Delhi In 12 Hours! World’s Longest Expressway Will Start From This Date: 1398 Kms, Rs 98,000 Crore Budget!

Nitin Gadkari, the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways informed on September 17 that the government is currently constructing the longest highway in the world, the Delhi-Mumbai Express Highway. 

The Minister recently conducted the inspection of the Bharuch section of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway on Friday, after which he announced that the project will wind up by March 2022.

Gadkari also informed that the Narmada steel bridge was built in a record time of 32 months.

The longest expressway in the world will be 1,380 km long and will go up to Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) but now the government is planning to build it up to Nariman Point and the whole project will cost about Rs 98,000 crores.

It will connect the urban centres of Delhi through the Delhi-Faridabad-Sohna section of the corridor along with a spur to Jewar Airport and Jawaharlal Nehru Port to Mumbai through a spur in Mumbai, states Livemint.

Mumbai Delhi In 12 Hours!

Currently, it takes about 24-26 hours to travel between Mumbai and Delhi, via car and about 2 days to cover the distance via truck.

Once ready, the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway will shorten the travel time to about 12-13 hours by car and from 18-20 hours by truck.

The entire expressway is being constructed keeping in mind the environment-friendly expressway with a tree cover of 2 million trees. They are being watered with drip irrigation along the entire stretch with a rainwater harvesting system at every 500 metres. 

The highway will have amenities like ATMs, hotels, retail shops, food courts, charging stations for electric vehicles, and fuel stations at 93 places, throughout the 1,380 km stretch.

It will also be the first expressway in India to have helipads and fully equipped trauma centers at every 100 km for accident victims.
