Recently, the Indian market is witnessing a significant rise in demand for seven-seater cars. 

Maruti Suzuki has already launched 2 3-row MPVs, Ertiga and XL6. They have received excellent responses from buyers.

The other competitors like Toyota Innova Crysta, Tata Safari, MG Hector Plus and the Toyota Fortuner are also having good sales in the market. 

With Alcazar, Hyundai has also entered the 7-seater SUV category, which is doing over 3,000 sales per month.

Many new 7-seater SUV’s are about to hit the Indian market.

So, let’s go through the list and find out what they have to offer in the coming times.

1. Hyundai Stargazer

Soon, Hyundai is expected to launch a new 7-seater MPV in the Indian market in 2022. 

Although, the carmaker is yet to make an official statement on the same. 

Presently, Hyundai is testing a 7-seater MPV in Korea as well as in Indonesia. 

Rumour mills suggest that the Hyundai Stargazer, the new 7-seater will be based on the Creta’s platform.

Currently, it is rumored to be manufactured at Hyundai’s Chennai based plant and will be exported to Indonesia and other South Asian markets.

Reportedly, this new Hyundai Stargazer will be offered with 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engine options with both manual and automatic gearbox options. 

Where the former is good for 113bhp and 145Nm of torque,while  the turbo-diesel engine produces 113bhp and 250Nm of torque. 

2. Mahindra XUV700

The prices of the 5-seater version of the XUV700 has already been announced by Mahindra as it will be positioned against the Tata Harrier and the MG Hector. 

Soon the carmaker will announce the prices of the 7-seater XUV700 in October 2021. 

It is expected to be offered with two seating configurations, 6-seater and 7-seater, with the former getting captain seats in the middle-row.

Further, this 3-row SUV comes with several segment-leading features including a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, navigation and voice recognition, and a 10.25-inch digital instrument console, connected car technology, a panoramic sunroof, and a premium Sony-powered sound system.

3. New-Gen Mahindra Scorpio

Mahindra is planning to launch the new generation Scorpio SUV in the first half of 2022 after XUV700. 

The model will be based on the ladder-on-frame chassis, underpinning the new Thar. 

Further, it will receive a 155bhp, 2.2L mHawk diesel engine with manual and automatic gearbox options. 

While, the petrol version will offer a 2.0L turbocharged petrol engine which is also used in the Thar lifestyle SUV.

The spy images also suggest that the new gen Mahindra Scorpio will grow in size. 

In terms of features, it will be equipped with several segment-leading features including a 360 degree parking camera, a new touchscreen infotainment system, a flat bottom multi-functional steering wheel, leatherette upholstery, a semi-digital instrument console, forward facing third row seat, etc. 

4. KIA KY 7-Seater

Kia India has already announced the plans to introduce a new 7-seater family car in the country in 2022. 

The new model is rumored to be based on the modified Creta’s platform that also underpins the Hyundai Alcazar. 

Codenamed KY, this model rides on a 2,750mm long wheelbase, which is 150mm longer than the Creta’s wheelbase.

It is expected to measure around 4.5 meters in length also in-line with the Alcazar and other 7-seater cars in the segment. 

Most likely to share the engine options with the Hyundai Alcazar, including a 159PS, 2.0L NA petrol and a 113bhp, 1.5L turbo-diesel. 

5. Skoda Kodiaq Facelift

Not falling behind, Skoda is also in preparation to launch the updated version of the Kodiaq 7-seater SUV in India in 2022. 

 This will come with refreshed exterior design, upgraded interior and a BSVI compliant petrol engine.

The production for this new Kodiaq facelift is most likely to commence in December 2021.

Coming to engine, itt will be powered by a 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine that produces 187bhp and 320Nm of torque.

6. JEEP Meridian 

The American SUV maker is expected to launch the 7-seater SUV based on the Compass platform in India in 2022. 

This new SUV is reportedly to be called the Jeep Meridian in our market and has already been spotted testing multiple times on the Indian roads. 

It is expected to compete with the likes of the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour, Skoda Kodiaq and the VW Tiguan AllSpace.

This new model sits on a 2,794mm long wheelbase, which is around 158mm longer than the 5-seater Compass. 

In dimensions, it measures 4769mm in length, 1859mm in width and 1682mm in height, which makes it 364mm longer, 41mm wider and 42mm taller than the Compass. 

Most likely to be offered with 6-and 7-seat options. 

Where the six-seater will get captain seats in the second-row, while the 7-seater will get bench-type seats. 

The India-spec Jeep Meridian is expected to come with the twin-turbocharged version of the 2.0L diesel engine to produce around 200bhp and over 400Nm of torque.
