Tata Wins Heart, Again: Only Transgenders Will Be Hired For This Difficult Job In Steel Plant

Inclusivity is the new mantra of organizations all over the world. It implies the inclusion of all kinds of humans in the organization solely based on their capabilities. It also means there wont be any aversion to any individual from the organization based on gender, race, caste, nationality. One more aspect which has also gained traction in recent times is the inclusion of LGBTQ+ in the mainstream workforce.

While many of the Indian companies have started opening up to the idea of LGBTQ+ in the organization. Many have welcomed the idea with open arms. This time the heartthrob of Indians, Tata has won the hearts once again especially of the Transegenders.

Tata Steel is inviting applications only from Trangenders

Indian steel giant, Tata Steel is inviting applications only from transgenders for the role of Heavy Earth Moving Machinery (HEMM) operators (trainee). The training will take place at the West Bokaro Division of the company.

Tata Steel, which is an India Workplace Equality Index certified (for LGBTQ+ inclusion) company is looking for candidates (Transgenders only) for the position of HEMM Operator Trainee. The role will involve working on different machines like Dumper, Drill Dozer, Excavator, Pay Loader, Crane, etc. for its coal division at West Bokaro, Ramgarh, Jharkhand.

It should be noted that LGBTQ+ refers to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning, and related communities.

Eligibility and Selection Process

For applying to this position one should have passed Matriculation and be born between September 1, 1981, and September 1, 2003. The candidates would be evaluated with a written test, interview, and practical orientation test. This will be followed by Medical Examination.

Tata Steel, welcoming workplace

The company has been well known for hiring candidates from the LGBTQ community. In 2020, the company received the award of Top Employer for LGBT+ inclusion by the India Workplace Equality Index (IWEI). It is India’s first comprehensive benchmarking study to measure and enable efforts for LGBT+ inclusion.

So no wonder that the company is adored by Indians. Small steps like these make the company a national favorite, right?
