Employee Sued By Company For Negative Reviews On Glassdoor

Wyatt Troia, a software engineer who is now employed at Microsoft left a review for Loanstreet while he was still working at the company. The company has sued him for $1 million dollars.

His review in April 2020 stated, “The founders are not skilled nor experienced leaders, with a bias towards pettiness and cowardice.” He talked about his issues on various platforms, including Glassdoor, Reddit, and Blind.

He was promptly fired after this review.

He went back to Glassdoor and criticised the company saying, “a fraudulent, exploitative mess. Stay far, far away unless you’re truly desperate. LoanStreet is a raging dumpster fire and you will get burned like many before.”

As per Troia, he was promised $100,000 when he was hired. The company had said that it would begin vesting after a year. However, these terms were not given in writing. Later, Troia was told that it would require 16 months for the options to get vested. He also stated that he was fired before any of his options were vested under the pretext of finding faults in another engineer’s code.

Loanstreet Denied Allegations By Troia

Loanstreet has stated that the claims made by Troia are false and has sued him for $1 million dollars for defamation.

The CEO of Loanstreet, Ian Lampi, stated that the allegations made by Troia were false and malicious. He said that he was fired for “the poor quality of his engineering, his lack of engagement with his team, and his inability to cooperate with his peers or take direction from his superiors.”

The company has called the posts an unabashed online smear campaign. As per the company, Troia’s posts threaten to destroy the livelihoods of more than 50 employees at Loanstreet.

Troia has started raising funds for his legal defense on GoFundMe and has already raised $5000.
