Great news for railway passengers – the Indian Railways has introduced the Economy Class facility in Three-Tier Air-Conditioned trains.

This facility will be available in the Prayagraj-Jaipur train, as confirmed by Amit Malviya, a Public Relations officer with the Indian Railways.

Indian Railways To Introduce Economy Class In Three Tier AC Trains

We recently reported that ‘Economy Class’ will be offered as a new feature in train travel. The much-anticipated air-conditioned Economy class is about to launch.

There are a total of 27 coaches prepared exclusively for this class. These carriages have been distributed to several zonal railways for immediate usage.

These new AC-Economy coaches will be available on Western Railway trains as well as other trains originating from various parts of the nation.

Features On The New Economy Coaches

Coming to the news at hand, there will reportedly be two coaches here as the number of berths has been increased from 72 to 83.

He also confirmed that there are numerous features that add to the value of the train. There will be more space for passengers. Advanced features will also be available especially for the disabled. Additionally, there also is a smoke detector and facilities like dining table, magazine holder at the SL seat of the train.

He has stated that this will provide better features to the passengers, space to people at lower, affordable prices.

The new coaches will also come with personalised aircraft-style AC vents at each berth. Also, they will have Divyang-friendly and modular bio-toilets with touch-free fitting.

The economy class is an upgrade from the non-AC sleeper while being almost on par with the AC-III tier, with an extra bay for the additional berths.

As per reports, the government was working on this concept because it wanted to bring affordable air conditioning. According to the board’s internal debate, the new class will be designated as 3E in the reservation document.

As per reports, the price of the ticket of the new coaches is 2.4 times the base price of the existing sleeper class of mail and express trains, as per railway officials. For those trains that travel upto 2000 km, the basic fare will be around Rs. 1757 and for up to 5000 km, it will be Rs. 3065.
