Reason

The country’s largest car manufacturer said that it continues to be negatively impacted as the cost of various inputs rise.

Thereby, it is passing on some of the burden to the customers by hiking the prices.

This is the third hike announced since January this year, once again citing the rise in cost of inputs.

January Hike

Back in January, Maruti raised the prices of its cars by up to Rs 34,000 on some models.

When this was implemented in April, prices of its cars went up by around 1.6%.

July Hike

In the second instance, prices of Swift and all CNG variants were increased back in July for the same reason.

The increase is up to Rs 15,000 on the above models.

The new prices are effective from today.

However, the rate of the hike this time around has not been revealed yet.

Mahindra Hikes Prices

The rise in input costs along with weaker demand has caused trouble to the industry at large.

Mahindra and Mahindra increased the prices of all its models for the third time this year in July.

Mahindra Thar received the highest revision with some variants becoming dearer by Rs 1 lakh.

Earlier revisions were made in January, followed by May.

Tata Motors Hikes Prices

Similarly, Tata Motors raised the prices earlier this month by 0.8%.

Earlier in May, the costs of certain models rose by up to Rs 36,000.
