India, with one of the largest workforces in the world, also faces the struggle of putting it to good use. With changing needs of the industry, the youth needs to be trained from time to time. Some skills can be imparted by educational institutes whereas some skills need to be imparted by employers as well. Keeping in mind this need for training Indian Government had launched Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana in 2015. Keeping in mind the same vision, Indian Railways has also decided to pith in their bid.

Indian Railways to Train 3,500 Youths

This year, Indian Railways has decided to train 3,500 unemployed youths from September under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY). The employment training of these 3,500 individuals will be organized by the Northern Railway and will take place over the next three years. According to Northern Railway spokesperson Deepak Kumar, the Railway zone will train 2,500 people while the remaining 1,000 will undergo training at different manufacturing units.

The Supervisors Training Centre in Charbagh, Lucknow, has already issued notification for the first and second batches for welding and electrician trades. Each trade will have 25 males/females. The short-term training program will run for three weeks.

As per the sources, the authorities have prepared a curriculum module of 100 hours. The training has been designed in such a way that it will consist of 70 percent practical and 30 percent theoretical syllabus.

Application Procedure and other details

People who are interested in applying for this need to apply at nr.indianrailways.gov.in. After application, the shortlisted ones will be called by the authorities for the training.

People between 18 and 35 years of age are eligible to apply, and they should have at least cleared Class 10th standard. The course is free of charge.

The training will also be conducted at Amritsar – Basic Training Centre, Mechanical Workshop; Ghaziabad – Carriage & Wagon Training Centre; and Jagadhari – Basic Training Centre, Carriage & Wagon Workshop. However, these centers haven’t yet issued a notification for the training course.
