British automotive company, MG has now revealed its new SUV for the Indian market, which will be called the MG Astor. 

This new car will be pitted against  Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Renault Duster, Nissan Kicks, Skoda Kushaq and the upcoming Volkswagen Taigun.

MG Launches Astor; First SUV To Get ADAS

The new SUV will be the first one to get a personal assistant that will be working through artificial intelligence. It will also come with segment Autonomous Level 2 technology which is ADAS or Advanced Driver Aids System. Again, it will be the first in its segment to get this feature.

Mr. Rajeev Chaba, President and MD, MG Motor India, has stated, “As an auto-tech brand, we’ve always introduced breakthrough technologies and now, we are moving forward with Artificial Intelligence.” 

The car will have multiple high end features, such as Adaptive Cruise Control, Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Departure Warning, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Keep Assist and Lane Departure Prevention. 

Specifications, Features, And Prices On MG Astor

Let’s talk about the engine specifications on the car. There will be a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine and a 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine. The former produces 120 PS of max power and 150 Nm of peak torque while the latter churns out 163 PS of max power and 230 Nm. The car will also come with a manual as well as an automatic gearbox.

The car’s font looks have already been revealed and it looks like a crossover instead of a mid size SUV. 

The price of the car has not been revealed yet.

The car will come with Car-as-a-Platform (CAAP), which includes several onboard applications that can be used in the vehicle itself. There also is an infotainment system which can navigate through MapMyIndia and play music through JioSaavn.

You can also reserve a parking space through Park+ and all the connected tech will be operated through a Jio Simcard. The personal assistant will also be able to answer your question by taking information through Wikipedia, and tell jokes and news. This system is also able to change music, set a destination in the navigation system and change car settings like climate control, understand Hinglish and will tell critical in-car warnings.
