Banks Will Close For 8 Days Out Of 10 In These Cities: Check Full List Of Bank Holidays (August 2021)

Whether you are a pensioner, a student seeking an education loan, a householder seeking a new house loan, or an entrepreneur seeking a business loan, an indispensable part of your life is Bank. But if you are any of these people, you would have a hard time scheduling your next visit to the bank. The main reason is being a series of bank holidays which are scheduled this month.

RBI has released the list of holidays

According to the list, released by the Reserve Bank of India, there were a total of 8 holidays in August. In addition to this, there were also the weekends i.e., Sundays as well as Second and Fourth Saturdays which will extend the holiday fervor. With that in mind, the list of holidays for lenders this month grew to 15 days in total. Now that, we are in the mid of August that list has shrunk down to 11 holidays, including weekends. 

The RBI has issued these holidays under three broad brackets –‘Holiday under Negotiable Instruments Act’, ‘Holiday under Negotiable Instruments Act and Real-Time Gross Settlement Holiday’ or ‘Banks’ Closing of Accounts’.

The holidays for August come under the ‘Holiday under Negotiable Instruments Act’ section.

The holidays enlisted are not uniform across India and hence are sporadically spread out, regardless of the dates they take place on. This might be some relief to customers of the bank who are planning their next visit to banks.

Holidays for August 2021, as per RBI: (from August 15 onwards)

1) August 15, 2021 – Sunday

2) August 16, 2021 – Parse New Year (Shahenshahi) / (Belapur, Mumbai, and Nagpur)

3) August 19, 2021 – Muharram (Ashoora) / (Agartala, Ahmedabad, Belapur, Bhopal, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jammu, Kanpur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Patna, Raipur, Ranchi, and Srinagar)

4) August 20, 2021 – Muharram/First Onam (Bengaluru, Chennai, Kochi, and Thiruvananthapuram)

5) August 21, 2021 – Thiruvonam (Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi)

6) August 22, 2021 – Sunday

7) August 23, 2021 – Sree Narayana Guru Jayanthi (Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi)

8) August 28, 2021 – Fourth Saturday

9) August 29, 2021 – Sunday
