Accenture Hit By Ransomware Attack!
A CNBC reporter tweeted of a hacker group saying it attacked Accenture Plc using LockBit Ransomware and threatened to release the data in several hours.
“Through our security controls and protocols, we identified irregular activity in one of our environments. We immediately contained the matter and isolated the affected servers,”
“We fully restored our affected systems from backup, and there was no impact on Accenture’s operations or our clients’ systems.”
Accenture said in a statement.
Accenture provides management and technology consulting services to clients including e-commerce giant Alibaba, Cisco and Alphabet Inc.’s Google, according to their 2020 annual report.
Ransomware is a malware that threatens to expose or limit access to data or a computer system.
The ransom demand is frequently accompanied by a deadline. The data is lost permanently if the victim does not pay on time. In this case the attacker used LockBit to attack the global consulting firm.
