Shocking! Canada Rejecting Upto 60% Indian Students: Find Out Why? What Next?

Imagine, you have been preparing for your dream college in Canada. You worked hard and aced the exam called IELTS. You have also completed all the necessary documentation and procedures as well. Only one step is remaining, getting your Visa! You think it will be a cakewalk after so much preparation. But you can’t be further away from reality. If the latest reports are to be believed, almost 60% of applications were rejected in recent days.

Why exactly applications are being rejected

Two primary reasons are coming forward for the rejection of these visas. One, selection of courses that are mismatching with your profile. Two, the financial background of the applicant.

Along with that, there might be an additional reason for Canada not being able to handle the influx of students once the flights resume.

While emphasizing the academic reason for the rejection, Narpat Singh Babbar of Jupiter Academy said, “If a student has a weak academic record, which one can be judged from his percentage in 10th or 12th or in graduation, and his score in IELTS, and he/she opts for a difficult course then his refusal is almost sure. Secondly, if a student is intelligent, opts for an easy course, which he has already studied here, then the visa officer can also refuse it on the basis that why the applicant intends to redo the same course.”

The way forward

According to Consultants, when students get a refusal letter they get a general refusal letter. This letter does not contain a specific reason. To understand the exact reason for the rejection the students need to get their Global Case Management System (GCMS) or Computer Assisted Immigration Processing System (CAIPS) notes. These notes are available to them in 35 to 40 days from the office of the high commission. Going through these documents can help students understand the exact reason for the refusal. This can help them re-prepare the application and apply again with more zeal.

At this stage, consultants can be of great help. They can help you with a lot of pitfalls of the way. Consultants recommend that statement of purpose (SOP) should be written very clearly where students must tell why they are going to study in Canada, what are the post-study plans, the academic profile, and the reason for selecting the course, college/universities, etc. Consultants can help the students to make vision clear cut so that no problems arise during the visa process.
