Maruti Suzuki To Launch New Electric Cars, Hybrid Cars
The Managing Director & CEO of MSI, Kenichi Ayukawa, has announced the same; he also talked about how the collaboration between Suzuki Motor Corporation and Toyota Motor Corporation will help the company get access to hybrid technology.
As per reports, Suzuki Motor Corporation has teamed up with Toshiba Corporation and Denso Corporation with the intention to reduce lithium import and promote electrification. For this, the company is setting up the first lithium-ion battery manufacturing facility with cell level localization in India. MSIL’s model line-up also boasts of the least CO2 emission per vehicle than other car manufacturers as measured by the CAFÉ regulation.
As per reports, the company will be introducing the 48V hybrid, only stronger. Also, the new generation Maruti Vitara Brezza will reportedly be the first model to receive new hybrid tech, along with the new S-Cross crossover.
Maruti Suzuki To Introduce First Mass Market All Electric Car
The company is also planning to introduce its first mass market all-electric car by fiscal year 2025, which will be based on the WagonR hatchback, and it will cost around Rs. 10 lakh.
The car manufacturer is reported to have plans of launching three new SUVs, which include the new-generation Vitara Brezza, 5-door Jimny and a mid-size SUV that will be developed with Toyota.
As per reports, the upcoming Maruti compact SUV will be based on Toyota’s low-cost DNGA (Daihatsu New Generation Architecture) platform. This platform also underpins Daihatsu Rocky and Toyota Raize and will be pitted against the likes of Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and the newly-launched Skoda Kushaq. Additionally, the upcoming MG Astor and Volkswagen Taigun will also compete against the new Maruti mid-size SUV.
There also are reports that the company is working on a compact crossover that will be launched sometime next year and will be based on Baleno. Maruti Suzuki will also step foot in the 7-seater SUV space with the global-spec Vitara based model.
