This New 7-Seater Hyundai MPV Will Challenge Maruti Ertiga’s Dominance In India: Features, Launch Date, Price

After a brief hiatus caused by the pandemic, the auto industry is readying itself to get back on track. And in that, the South Korean carmaker does not wish to be left behind. With the same competitive spirit, the company is readying its new MPV, Stargazer (Codenamed KS). This car will supposedly give competition to Ertiga. This vehicle will be primarily aimed at the emerging markets that include Indonesia, India, and Russia among a few others. This vehicle is being rolled out from Hyundai’s new plant in Indonesia. It will see a world debut in Indonesia sometime next year.

In the world of tough competition

With already existing options like the Suzuki Ertiga, Honda BR-V, Mitsubishi Xpander, and the Nissan Livinia, the current MPV market is already overcrowded. With this new MPV, Hyundai is trying to get a slice of the crowded market. The Indonesian MPV market is considered an important one by other brands including Toyota which always introduces the new generation of the Innova and Suzuki which released the current-gen Ertiga in the Indonesian domestic market first.

The new MPV will share its platform bits with Creta. The vehicle could also be similar in length to Alcazar. Recently paparazzi’s succeeded in getting a glimpse of the vehicle in Korea. Even though it doesn’t reveal many details, what can be confirmed is that the model will have a lot of inspirations from the newer Hyundai models like the recently revealed Tucson and also the Bayon crossover that went on sale in Europe a while back.

Some Expected Specifications of the Car

The new Hyundai KS MPV can come with a 1.5-liter petrol engine first. This engine will also make it competitive with most of its rivals that have similar capacity engines. If the model makes its way to India, it will come up with a 1.5-liter diesel too. Automatic and manual gearboxes similar to the Creta and Alcazar can be expected on this vehicle.

There is no confirmation from Hyundai on its availability in India. However, we think it is the logical next step for them as India is a market with immense potential.
