Research Analyst Amber Liu from Canalys states, “Smartphone brands are ferociously competing to exploit the decline of Huawei, and are proactively acquiring channel resources and launching targeted new products.

This led to high inventory levels in Q1 2021, which softened channel demand in Q2. In addition to this, the timescale for smartphone replacement in China is gradually lengthening, and the first half of 2021 overall is lower than the market was in 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic, with 167 million versus 185 million units in the same period two years ago.”
