Pixel 5a remains one of the much-anticipated smartphones in 2021. So, how will it fare against the popular predecessor Pixel 4a? Pixel 5a vs Pixel 4a: Specs Comparison, What We May See
Pixel 5a specs will remain in the budget category as the current Pixel 4a. After failing for years, Google finally got it right with the Pixel 4 series, and it ended up as a big hit across categories. The company will follow the same route as the previous generation, and Pixel 5a will directly go against the stalwarts in the entry premium category.
As per the rumours, the upcoming Pixel 5a leaked details show some decent upgrades.
Design, Build
The upcoming Pixel mid-range smartphone is said to feature a similar design as Pixel 4a with some change in the camera setup. The leaked Pixel 5a images show a dual-camera setup with a flash housed in the square module. As Pixel 4a, the upcoming Pixel 5a will have a punch-hole cutout on the top left corner.
The design language will remain technically same with a similar power button in different colour and a rear-mounted fingerprint print scanner.
Display
Pixel 5a leaked specs include a 6.2-inch Full HD+ OLED display with similar dimensions as Pixel 4a 5G measuring 156.2 x 73.2 x 8.8mm from the leaked image.The device may retain the 3.5mm jack as well, seen in the leaked render. In comparison, Google Pixel 4a features a 5.81-inch Full HD+ OLED display with a punch-hole.
The device has a punch-hole display with the hole at the top right corner with a slight chin down under.
Hardware, Software
Pixel 4a came with Snapdragon 730G chipset, an upgrade over Snapdragon 670 SoC on Pixel 3a. Pixel 4a came in a single variant with 6GB of RAM and 128GB storage. Pixel 5a is said to ship with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 750G budget 5G chipset, the one which was launched with OnePlus Nord CE recently.
The device will ship with 6GB of RAM and 128GB UFS 3.1 storage in a single storage model. Pixel 5a is said to come with 5G support.
The software as always will be the latest, Pixel 5a will run on Android 12 out of the box.
Cameras
At the back, the Google Pixel 4a features a single camera at the back, a 12.2-megapixel rear shooter. There’s an 8-megapixel front-facing camera upfront. Google earlier accidentally shared a photo taken with the device. It’s supposed to pack in the same 12.2MP sensor with upgraded software with an aperture of f/2.2, 16mm focal length, hinting at an ultra wide-angle camera.
Pixel 5a may have a dual-camera setup with support for HDR+, Night Sight, Portrait Mode and other features from Pixel handsets.
Battery, Fast Charging
Pixel 5a battery may see a little jump in capacity too. The device will ship with a 3,840 mAh battery with 20W fast charging support. The current Pixel 4a houses a standard 3,080mAh battery under the hood with 18W fast charging support.

Pixel 5a price will remain in the budget category, expected to start at around $349 (around Rs 25,300) globally. Pixel 5a price in India is also expected in the same bracket as the current Pixel 4a. Pixel 5a price should be between Rs 30,000 to Rs 32,000 in the country for the single variant. Pixel 5a India availability will be confirmed later. As of now, Pixel 5a in India is not expected before August.
Last year, Pixel 4a launch in India took really long. Expect a similar timeline for Pixel 5a India availability given Google’s slow release in different nations apart from the US.
