Latest in this measure is Gujarat which has already put mechanisms in place asso as to promote the use of Electric Vehicles (EV).

What’s This About?

Joy e-bike announced its approval for subsidy program 2021-22 by Gujarat Energy Development Agency (GEDA).

Those studying from class IX to those in colleges can avail of a Rs 12k subsidy on ex-showroom price of four Joy-bike electric two-wheelers in Gujarat.

The beneficiary models coming under the scheme comprise Joy e-bike Gen Next (Electric scooter), Wolf (Electric scooter), Glob (Electric scooter) and Monster (Electric Motorcycle).

How The Country Benefits

Electrification of commute is being actively encouraged by local govts since scheme benefits of subsidy upto Rs 48,000 on 5,000 e-rickshaws is up for grabs.

The environmental goals are aplenty since these vehicles contribute towards sustainable development goals. They reduce air pollution, fossil fuel dependency, energy wastage and greenhouse gas emissions.

Establishment of such a market is still very much nascent since appropriate policymaking is eons behind coupled with exorbitant tariff fees.

It’s a shame since these solutions could have gone a long way towards addressing India’s environmental concerns.
